Nuclear Safety Operations - Dissemination of results
Until 31 December 2006, EU assistance in nuclear safety to the countries of the European Neighbourhood Policy was provided under the TACIS (Technical Assistance to the Commonwealth of Independent States) Programme.
From 1991 to 2006, the TACIS Nuclear Safety programme allocated €1.3 billion (1,200 projects) to the improvement of nuclear safety in the Newly Independent States (NIS) of the former Soviet Union.
From 1 January 2007 onwards, as part of the reform of EU assistance instruments, the TACIS Nuclear Safety Programme was replaced by a new instrument – the Instrument for Nuclear Safety Co-operation (INSC). For the next budgetary period (2007-2013), €524 million in Union funding has been earmarked to support this programme.
The Nuclear Safety Programmes are prepared by the European External Action Service (EEAS) in collaboration with the Commission's Directorate-General for Development and Cooperation - EuropeAid (DG DEVCO).
The purpose of this website is to provide information on completed TACIS and INSC projects. Basic contract information on completed and ongoing Tacis and INSC contracts can be found on the relevant page of the Development and Cooperation - EuropeAid website.
