Objectives
Maintenance of safety related equipment and if needed the replacement of worn parts is necessary to preserve the adequate safety function of the equipment and to enhance plant availability. Some of the safety related components of the Zaporozhye NPP were running out of the safety margin and parts had to be replaced with approved spare parts.
As part of the Tacis 1994 nuclear safety assistance programme for Ukraine, it was decided to procure urgently needed spare parts required for the maintenance and repair of foreign supplied equipment that had been installed at Zaporozhye NPP in the past.
The NPP operator, together with the On-Site Assistance Consultant prepared a list of urgently needed spare parts and these were divided into 8 lots:

U1.03/94D-2: Spare parts for valves - Persta type drawing Sb-E9089, SB-E9049, SB-E9059.
U1.03/94D-3: Spare parts for Polar crane - Electric winch, MAN GHH Logistics (not contracted)
U1.03/94D-4: Spare parts for Polar crane - Electric components, INKLA
U1.03/94D-5: Spare parts for reactor control system - protection device Siemens type 7SA5131-5CA11-OCH1
U1.03/94D-6: Spare parts for reactor control system emergency power supply – Batteries Varta type Vb 2408, Vb2412 and rectifier type D220 G210/800
U1.03/94D-7: Special equipment for grinding of conical valve seats - EFCO type VSK 30 - 60 - 90
U1.03/94D-8: Special equipment for grinding of valve seats - Hauerwas type HVS 3.
The spare parts and special equipment (except Lot 3) were purchased by negotiated direct agreements with the original suppliers and were identical to the original parts. All required documentation was included in the scope of supply.
Project Results
This contract is for Lot 7: Special equipment for grinding of conical valve seats DN 8 – DN 50 including spare parts and consumables.
It was contracted directly with the company EFCO, Germany and the equipment was manufactured and delivered between March 1997 and December 1997.
The Certificate of Final Acceptance was signed 17 December 1997.
