Project Aims
The final objective of the PHARE Project CZ 01.14.02 was to define a set of Initiating events and a set of computer codes which have to be verified and validated using experimental data from the Russian integral facility PSB-WWER-1000 in order to increase confidence of Thermal-hydraulic calculations of WWER-1000 reactors. This may lead to a proposal for additional data requirements from the facility PSB-WWER-1000.
Project Results
Three steps have been defined in order to fulfil the objectives:
- First step consisted of reviewing relevant system computer codes with regard to their suitability in predicting WWER-1000 relevant accidents and transients.
- Second step was to determine the dominant phenomena, which needed additional validation (the white spots) and to check the capabilities of the PSB-WWER-1000 facility to provide experimental data for those validations.
- Third step consisted in deriving from the identified white spots, experimental data from the Electrogorsk Russian PSB-WWER-1000 facility.
All tasks, which were defined in the project manual, were achieved in such a way that the initial objectives of the project have been completely fulfilled.
The project resulted in a proposal of five tests. These tests correspond to the needs of validation of computer codes used or which will be used by SUJB and its TSO.
The budget for this project was 400 000 euro.
