Description

Beneficiary Organizations Details

- State Office for Nuclear Safety (Czech Republic)

Project Aims

  • The project is designed to support activities of the Czech Regulatory Authority – the State Office for Nuclear Safety related to methodology of validation of best estimate system computer codes and thermal hydraulic analyses evaluation.
  • The prime objective is to demonstrate improvements in code simulation (validation of the numerical simulation of certain thermohydraulic events through comparison with experimental results). It is a follow-up of CZ.01.14.02 project implemented under PHARE 2001 budget year programme.
  • This project will provide necessary support for the application of advanced system computer codes, which will be used in the process of safety evaluation of a VVER-1000 NPP (Temelin NPP). Consequently SUJB will have at its disposal, thereinafter, validated numerical codes suitable for assessment of nuclear safety, independent of the codes used in the original design or in the compilation of the Safety Analysis Report.

Project Results

  • Several computer codes validated and ready for introduction within the validation procedures of SUJB.
  • Methodology developed of utilisation of experimental data from large-scale integral test facility for the different initial events specific for VVER 1000 reactor.
  • Methodology of validation computations developed.
  • Results evaluated, including statistical evaluation (for instance Fast Fourrier Transformation – FFT for statistical evaluation and comparison of numerical and experimental results).
  • Analytical numerical results determinated, as well as accuracy/uncertainty for selected initial events.
  • Several computer codes validated and ready for introduction within the inspection procedures of Nuclear Power Plants at SUJB.

The budget for this project: 800000 euro.
