Project Aims
The ultimate objective of this project was to assist in the development and strengthening of a nuclear safety regulatory regime in the Czech Republic in compliance with internationally accepted criteria and practices.
The specific objectives were related to transfer of western know-how in the field of Emergency Preparedness and Planning, with particular emphasis on internal emergency procedures, and review of relevant SUJB regulatory documents.
Project Results
Task 1: Emergency Preparedness and Planning
The work performed under this task was aimed at helping SUJB in building a nuclear regulatory capability to respond to an emergency. The following main issues were addressed:
- provision of the equipment for the Emergency Response Centre;
- training of SUJB staff through the participation to emergency exercises in Western Europe;
- reviewing the SUJB Emergency Preparedness internal procedures;
- reviewing the overall Emergency organisation and decision making.
Task 2: Review of Regulatory Documents
The work performed under this task was aimed at strengthening and enhancing
- The first workshop reviewed the documents on radiation protection;
- The second workshop and the third workshop, reviewed the overall consistency of the regulatory documents.
In addition for the CEZ utility the Company Manual, Quality Policy, QA Implementation Plan and Department Manual for Safety and Quality have been reviewed in detail and suggestions for their updating were prepared.
