Project Aims

The purpose of the project were:

  • the development of the APROS Nuclear Plant Analyser to account for specific features of the Hungarian Paks nuclear power plant, as well as
  • to extend its capabilities towards beyond design basis and severe accident scenarios.

Project Results

This project was in response to the general EC recommendations in that the development of additional Hungarian TSO capabilities would enhance in-house capabilities of as well as would ensure independent support to the national nuclear regulator. In fact one of the HAEA/NSD TSOs had certain experience in using APROS, inclusion of this TSO into the project had the direct advantage of broadening the in-country capabilities in the field. Specific project results are:

  • Modules and databases of APROS specific to Paks NPP developed.
  • Further data management and snapshot capabilities of the APROS code developed.
  • Beyond design basis and severe accident modules of APROS for the Paks NPP developed.
  • Sample scenarios and training courses to the users provided.

The budget for this project is: 400 000 euro.
