Development Plan for the Sevastopol Institute for basic training of future specialist in Nuclear Energy

Description

1) Background

To ensure the education, training and qualification of personnel for the Ukrainian nuclear power and nuclear industry according to the internationally accepted requirements for training, this project has been programmed.

2) Objectives

The objectives of this project were to establish and implement the plan, approved by the Ukrainian State authorities, for the development of a higher education Institute for nuclear power and nuclear industry in Ukraine, based on the Sebastopol Navy Institute, further named SNI, which has a faculty for Nuclear Power Plants.

The following project activities had to be carried out:

  • Analysis of SNI training capabilities.
  • Visit of four SNI experts to training centres and NPP's of Western Europe.
  • Analysis of the NPPs needs in training.
  • Working out of an action plan for the SNI development.
  • Training course on SAT (Systematic Approach to Training)
  • Training course on instructional techniques.
  • Development of specific training course.
  • Development of specification for training equipment.
  • Preparation of a list of books/magazines and their subscription for the SNI library.
  • Purchase and delivery of the office equipment to SNI

3) Project Results-Achievements

A development plan for the NPPs Faculty of the Sevastopol Naval Institute, for basic training of future specialists in nuclear power and industry, including:

  • a report with analysis of SNI training capabilities and its role in the future national system for training nuclear power personnel;
  • a report with an action plan for SNI development and short -and long-term training activities.

Further:

  • Ten SNI instructors have been qualified in SAT methods; training material based on SAT.
  • Ten SNI instructors have been trained on instructional techniques.
  • A specific training course has been developed.
  • A specification for the training equipment, required by SNI has been established.
  • Books/magazines have been subscribed on the request of SNI.
  • Office equipment was delivered to SNI.
