Development of residual lifetime diagnostic systems

Description

Objective

The objective of the project was to develop a residual life time diagnostic system based both on existing Russian developments and on the Contractor’s experience. This system was to be implemented on operating VVER-NPPs.

Result

Phase 1:
Review of existing system and identification of required upgrading.

Phase 2:
Creation of a Fatigue Monitoring Manual for VVER 440 and 1000, with components to be monitored. Calculation algorithms, the software layout and functions were specified. Calculations methods were qualified and verified by sample calculations. Production of qualification documents. PC hardware was specified and delivered.

Phase 3:
New software modules were coded and incorporated into the Russian Fatigue Diagnostic System (FADIS). New system functions were documented.

Phase 4:
Software and hardware were tested. Calculation results were verified by the Siemens Fatigue Monitoring (FAMOS) calculations. Test calculations were documented.
