Objective
The project's main objective is to improve the existing active fire-fighting system and to increase passive and active fire protection, according to the results of the preliminary fire risk analysis performed for Novovoronezh Unit 3 and 4 (project 3.6/T91) that should be extended to include the assessment of the effects of fire to the safety systems.
In particular, for one of the two VVER 440/230 Units, the following improvements are envisaged:

• Passive fire protection for electrical cables;
• Use of non-flammable coverings for floors;
• Improvement of fire resistance of building elements;
• Reconstruction of the active fire-fighting system;
• Installation of auxiliary control panel for equipment control;
• Reconstruction of fire alarm system;
• Installation of gas extinguishing systems near electronic equipment and auxiliary control panels;
• Establishment and identification of escape routes;
• Training of the plant personnel.
