Objective
Evaluation Committees were to be set up for the purpose of evaluating tenders made by third party consultants on the occasion of tendering procedures organised by the EC in the framework of the TACIS nuclear safety technical assistance programme.
The Consultant was required to provide appropriate technical experts to participate in these tender evaluation committees, which were to be chaired by officials of the EC. In particular, the Consultant was required to perform the following activities:

• to make the experts available upon EC's request;
• to contract with the experts/their companies according to EC instructions and EC approval of the financial conditions;
• to assist, if required, in negotiating the remuneration of the experts or the experts companies;
• to guarantee attendance to the meetings of the evaluation committees by the hired experts;
• to subscribe the necessary insurance for the experts
• to remunerate the experts/respective companies

Results
The Consultant provided technical experts for a number of tender evaluations organised during the period of the contract, i.e. between January 1995 and July 1996, on request of the EC.
The total costs related to the fees for the man-days of the experts and the related travel and subsistence expenses for participation in the evaluation committees amounted to €220 913.
