Feasibility study for St.Petersburg waste management centre
Feasibility study for St.Petersburg waste management centre
Description
Objective
The waste centre (for both NPP and non-NPP radwaste) includes:
- Control and management of the packages;
- Conditioning of waste;
- Disposal of conditioned waste;
- Long duration monitoring.
A first phase addresses the feasibility study of the project and includes collecting of data and radioprotection norms, and definition of the process.
Result
The specific objective of the project as defined in the TOR were achieved. The achievements might have been better if the second alternative for the repository, not in the scope of the present TOR, would have been studied in the same scope for comparison. The feasibility study, useful for both the Beneficiary and the Local Subcontractor, also contributes to improve the situation in the Russian radwaste management in general.
