Project Aims
The main objective of this project was to improve the capability, ability and experience of the Main Beneficiary Institution in the identification, analysis, evaluation and decision making of all available operating experience reports, data and information obtained from the Beneficiary's own Nuclear Power Plants, from plants of similar design in other countries, from international organisations and from NPPs vendors.
In particular, the specific objectives to be obtained were:

  • To improve the capability of the Dukovany NPP in identifying, screening, investigating and trending of in-house events;
  • To determine the in-house events root causes and to define corrective actions and to disseminate at the plant the lessons learnt;
  • To improve the capability of Dukovany NPP for screening external events and other operating events originating from other sources;
  • To analyse and evaluate for applicability the information obtained and to identify appropriate corrective actions;
  • To train Dukovany NPP personnel in: Root-cause analysis, Cost/benefit analysis, Event evaluation.
  • To train the Dukovany experts as trainers in root cause analysis;
  • To supply hardware and software for: an efficient and fast connection to electronic networks; storing, retrieving and analysing the operating experience information and data.

Project Results
To achieve those objectives it was necessary to implement the following main actions:

  • Review of the Dukovany NPP Operating Experience working methods and procedures;
  • Proposal of revised and improved methods and procedures;
  • Supply of hardware and software;
  • Training of main Beneficiary institution in the initial phase of the implementation of the new methods and procedures.

All general and specific project activities in the three main fields of activity (i.e. in-house and industry operating analysis, and computing/database) were achieved. All deliverables required by the Terms of Reference were handled over to the Beneficiary.
