Description
Objective
The objective of this project was to upgrade the bitumization plant for radwaste. (See also Project R1.03/92D.)
It was decided to replace the existing flow meters for bitumen and waste, and to install measuring devices for hazardous components in the off-gas in order to improve the safety of the bitumization process, as well as other additional devices.
Result
The equipment procured for improvement for the existing bitumization facility was the following:
- In-line flow meter for liquid bitumen.
- In-line flow meter for liquid radioactive waste concentrates.
- In-line flow meter for liquid evaporator distillate.
- Measuring apparatus for hydrogen and methane gases in the ventilation off-gas line.
- Level detection device for bitumen.
The equipment has been successfully installed.
