Project Aims
The main objective of the project was to support the Slovak Nuclear Regulatory Authority (UJD) in:
- Review of upgrading measures foreseen to be implemented at Mochovce NPP (VVER 440/213);
- Review of safety documentation including Safety Analysis Report on the basis of Western practice;
- Review of commissioning program and main results of the nuclear tests;
- Assessment of the overall safety status of the plant.
Project results
Project provided for verification whether the Mochovce NPP design meets criteria as follows:
- Appropriate defence in depth on all levels;
- The risk of intolerable consequences for the plant, for humans and for environment is sufficiently low;
- All factors essentially contributing to safety have been assessed according to applicable current standards and practice.
Project focussed on an in-depth assessment in different areas that involved design, system analysis, accident analysis, and comissioning such as:
- Integrity of reactor pressure vessel;
- Integrity of bubble condenser confinement;
- Ensuring of emergecny core cooling re-circulation via the confinement sump;
- Vulnerability of emergnecy feedwater supply;
- Steam generator primary header lid;
- Reliability of I&C;
- Scope and methodology of accident analysis;
- Seismic design;
- Commissioning.
