Project Aims

• To evaluate the remaining lifetime of components and systems on basis of a preliminary engineering judgment;
• To define preventive actions on components and systems;
• To identify components and systems which should be replaced or backfitted from the point of view of plant life.

The work performed by the Consortium was focused on unit No.2 of NPP Kozloduy.

Project Results

• On basis of available documentation and information, an assessment of remaining life has been made for all selected components;
• At this stage of the work, this assessment was based more or less on a week point analysis and an engineering judgment of the actual state of the components, considering possible ageing mechanisms. It should be pointed out, that during this phase of the work program, most emphasis was put on the pressure retaining parts rather than on functional parts of the components;
• The results of the evaluation can only be transposed to the units 1, 3 and 4 at NPP Kozloduy with supplementary specific analysis.
