Project Aims

  • Evaluate the equipment and the operating procedures to preclude accumulation of non-condensable gases in the primary system of VVER reactors;
  • Help the Beneficiary plants to develop their procedures for all operating modes to prevent and handle safety related problems caused by incondensable gases.

Project results

  • Performance of detail analysis of chemical modes of operation of VVER 440/213 plant;
  • Determination of non-condensable gases dissolved in the primary coolant at different operational states;
  • Location of gas accumulation;
  • Removing and processing of non-condensable gases;
  • Evaluation of primary systems in a view of accumulation of gases without possibility of degassing during start up, power operation, shut down and abnormal events;
  • Handling loss of natural circulation events;
  • Proposals to improve existing equipment for venting;
  • Assisting to the Beneficiary plant primary venting circuit procedures.
