Procurement of spare parts for Zaporozhye NPP

Procurement of spare parts for Zaporozhye NPP

Description

Beneficiary organisation: Energoatom, Ukraine
1) Background
As economical situation of Ukrainian NPPs was very difficult in the early 90’, there was an urgent need for spare parts in order to allow their operation.
The European utility at Zaporozhye NPP GKN (Gemeinschaftskernkraftwerk Neckar GmbH) has elaborated in the framework of OSA (On-Site Assistance) to Zaporozhye NPPs a list of urgently needed spare parts, aggregates and tools.
2) Objectives
Procurement of spare parts was performed by Fichtner as contractor (on behalf of the European Commission). Tasks to be performed were:
Preparation of a direct agreement contract with each supplier of spare parts,
Management of contracting negotiations,
Clarification of export, import and customs duty regulations,
Preparation and signature of supply contracts on behalf of European Commission,
Management of shipment of spare parts to their destination,
Organisation of financial arrangement and control of the project.
3) Project results–achievements
The implementation of this project was preceded by discussions between OSA utility GKN and Zaporozhye NPP experts for defining the exact scope of spare parts to be supplied. A list of electrical spare parts with relevant technical specifications was prepared and agreed by GKN and Zaporozhye NPP, and was submitted to EC in January 1995.
Once list of spare parts and relevant technical specifications were approved, Fichtner was contracted by European Commission in order to ensure the procurement phase of this project.
The following suppliers have been awarded:
see. the attachment.

The scope of supply of each contractor was the following:

  • Siemens: electric motors from 0.06 to 4.8 kW (103 units), electrical drives for motor operated valves (280 units), measuring transducers for temperature (12 units), micro-switches (400 units), reverse power relays (7 units)
  • Brklin: electrical isolation devices (138 units)
  • Persta: micro-switches (55 units) and limiting switches (500 units)
  • Bopp&Reuther: electrical boards (20 units), electrical junctions (18 units) and cables (1 km)
  • Babcock Sempell: magnetic indicators (98 units) and magnets (7 units)
  • Lisega: electrical equipment (200 units)
  • Limitorque: electric motors between 0.1 and 4.4 kW (16 units)
  • Varta (contract N 1): 2 charging sets for acid batteries
  • Varta (contract N 2): 4 rectifiers plus relevant instrumentation
  • Deugro: transportation of spare parts from suppliers’ facilities to Zaporozhye NPP

90% of spare parts have been delivered at Zaporozhye NPP in August 1995. Many spare parts were immediately used on the plant equipment directly. The other ones have been stored in maintenance workshops.
Remaining Siemens spare parts and spare parts of 2nd contract of Varta were delivered by the end 1995.
