Project Aims

The present project was the first phase of a complete programme for Qualification of Kozloduy NPP VVER-440 units Confinement. The main aims of the project were:

to improve the leaktightness confinement by local improvements and ensuring correct reclosure of venting flaps when the internal pressure decreases;
to find out the size of primary breaks that confinement is able to withstand;
to perform experimental investigations to evaluate the definition of confinement tightness;
to define ways and means to increase the tighness;
to carry out the modifications which can be implemented in this phase;
to define the tests to be performed in the next phase: global leaktightness, flap reliability, structural resistance.
