Project Aims
- Elaborate a list of I&C equipment to be qualified;
- Define, if necessary either qualification programs or equipment replacement;
- Study equipment degradation as a result of thermal and radiation aging to determine possible operational equipment lifetime. Seismic qualification was outside of the of the project scope, but interactions should be mentioned for the qualification process. Required environmental conditions were determined based on plant specific accident analysis.
Project Results
- Qualification tests performed in testing facilities of NRI Rez (cables, cable penetrations, solenoid valves) and VUJE Trnava (thermocouples and connection boxes);
- LOCA testing facility in NRI Rez was used for simulation of LOCA and post-LOCA environmental conditions for tested equipment so that to simulate required temperature and pressure profile as realistic as in the hermetic zone of Dukovany NPP;
- Accelerated radiation ageing was performed in 60Co-gamma irradiation source ROZA at room temperature in air and dose rate of about 0.45 kGy/h to a total dose, which simulated both the radiation ageing during normal operation after 30 years of service life, DBE and post-DBE doses as identified for LOCA accidents;
- Accelerated thermal ageing tests were performed in the oven with forced air circulation under conditions to provide a homogenous oxidation (about 10 air exchanges per 1 hour per volume).
