Description

Improvement of Sergiev Posad Storage and Conditioning Facility
Objective
The modernization of the Moscow region radwaste facility including MNPO Radon is partially financed under TACIS 93. The present project covers the modernization of the conditioning sub-system of the facility, and includes the necessary basic Engineering studies and supply of some equipment, as defined in R4.02/93.
Result
The project resulted in the basic design for the storage system, which is suitable for becoming later a disposal intended for the safe storage of the low and intermediate level non-NPP radwaste as specified in the TOR. The requested preliminary safety assessment was completed also at the expected level. The methodology transfer even exceeded the original plans. The Beneficiary and Local Subcontractor have expressed full satisfaction on the achieved results.
The specific objectives as per the TOR were achieved.
