1) Background
In the framework of the Tacis 1994-95 programmes, the European Commission has agreed with the Ukrainian Goskomatom on the project of replacement of the Computer Information System (CIS) at Rovno NPP, Unit 1 & 2.
2) Objectives
This project, included equipment supply, supervision of installation and commissioning of two Computer Information Systems (1 per Unit). It also involves tests, documentation spare parts, training, after sales services and assistance to Rovno NPP (End user) in the following fields:
project organization;
planning monitoring;
technical assistance for the project follow-up (technical documents review, participation in acceptance and factory tests and on site);
certification/licensing process.
3) Project results–achievements
For the period from August 96 to December 97 EDF performed the follow-up of the design phase.
The equipment supply contract was awarded to SYSECA company. EDF contract for the technical assistance to Rovno NPP was awarded in mid of August 1996.
Over the period of August to December 1996, Rovno NPP, Goskomatom and EDF examined the contract. The contract for the replacement of the CIS was finally signed on December 9, 1996.
EDF was involved in the follow up of design phase of the CIS, participated at the technical meetings, analysed the design documentation and issued comments and recommendations to Rovno NPP.
Rovno NPP staff was strongly involved in the project and help solving some technical difficulties during the installation process. A working group consisted of Rovno NPP, Goskoamtom and technical support institutes provide support for the CIC certification.
The project schedule had to be reviewed several times due to the technical as well as administrative difficulties. For example, time needed for translation of technical documents was generally under estimated.
4) Comments
Project was supervised through the On Site assistance project to the Rovno NPP.
