RESIDUAL LIFETIME EVALUATION
Description
Objective
The objective of the project was to develop jointly with Russian experts a methodology to evaluate the rest lifetime of VVER 440/230 units and to recommend refurbishment and improvement to assure a safe and reliable short-term operation of the Novovoronezh NPP units 3 and 4. The results will apply to Kola as far as the methodology is concerned.
Result
- Development of a methodology for lifetime evaluation;
- Identification of weak points and major safety related problems;
- Transfer of Western experience in lifetime evaluation;
- Revision of the results from the Kozloduy 6 months Phare program were revised and definition of the differences to NPP Novovoronezh 3 and 4, then definition which parts could be transferred to NVV NPP;
- Determination of the present plant status and the expected lifetime in the future;
- Recommendations on refurbishment and improvements on a short-term basis.
