Project Aims
Previous steps regarding In-Service - Inspections (ISI) in PHARE 93 programmes and concerning Reactor Pressure Vessel inspection procedures have been extended in 94 to cover all parts of primary circuit. Ph1.02/95 project addressed steam generators (SG) ISI.

• The objective of the project was the improvement of the ISI programme of steam generator collector and achievement of a level of quality and effectiveness of in-service inspection equivalent to the level of European practice through Round Robin Test (RRT) and preparation of NDE qualification for this type of component;
• The project addressed the steam generator collector in-service inspections. The scope of in-service inspections of interest was limited to the area of threaded flange and collector shell.

Project Results
This project was dedicated to assessment of current inspection methodology used. It included:

• Preparation of Round Robin Test on steam generator collector representative of the different present situation;
• Selection and availability of suitable SG collector with real cracks;
• Preparation of SG collector for RRT trials;
• Determination of acceptance criteria;
• Preparation of instructions for RRT trials;
• Performance of RRT with international participation;
• Assessment of RRT results;
• Comparison of different NDE methods and techniques used;
• Elaboration of procedures for the NDE qualification process for steam generator collector;
• Elaboration of drawings and specifications to purchase qualification test blocks.
