Objective

A simulator was to be provided for instruction and proficiency training of operator teams to improve their skills and knowledge.

The simulator had to provide the following types of training:

• Initial individual training in control and understanding of the basis systems in the plant unit;
• Group training, with reference to their work methods in the control room, but also taking account of communication among the operating team;
• On-going individual proficiency training (recycling).

The simulator had to be designed as a training tool and not as a study simulator.

The control tasks will be ergonomically studied to allow working in a seated position. Large format screens had be installed on the control desks according to functions selected for training.
Alarm strips will cover major status information and will be of the highest indicator type.
The following systems will be simulated: core with punctual neutronics, primary sodium circuit, argon circuit, secondary sodium cycle.

Result

The outputs, listed in the TOR as planned for this project were achieved, consistently with the development of the supply contract. Local participants/subcontractors have been successfully selected and contracted, coordination between participants has been established, and preparatory activities for simulator realization have been performed.

Main results achieved are:

• Data Package, produced by SSL, Obninsk;
• Specification Files completion and approval;
• Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP) completion and approval;
• Simulator hardware delivery to the supplier premises;
• Design phase essentially completed;
• Hardware integration in factory essentially completed.
