Beneficiary Organizations Details
The main beneficiary of the project is the Institute for Nuclear Research and Nuclear Energy (INRNE) , the operator of Novi Han Repository:

Project Aims
The main objectives of the project was to provide financial and human resources needed for the :

• Supply of equipment for characterisation of institutional radioactive waste;
• Supply of a hot cell, in which the characterisation of high activity spent sealed sources, including orphan sources;
• Development of technical design for the future construction of the radioactive waste processing and storage facility.

Project Results
The foolowing main activities have been implemented as part of the project:

• Construction of a comprehensive system for characterisation of institutional radioactive waste at Novi Han Repository – low and intermediate level solid waste, and low intermediate and high activity spent sealed sources;
• Construction of a hot cell in which characterisation of high activity spent sealed sources can be performed;
• Novi Han Repository staff were trained to work with the measurement equipment;
• Detailed technical design for waste processing and storage facility (to be constructed later) was developed.

The budget for this project was: 1 410 000 euro.
