Project Aims

Within the framework of the Phare Programme of the Commission of the European Communities (CEC) financing programmes of assistance to the Republic of Bulgaria in the field of nuclear safety, the CEC has agreed with the Spanish company DTN the implementation of assistance to the Ministry of Energy and Energy Resources where the Programme Authorising Officer (P AO) is the responsible Bulgarian Authority for the Nuclear Safety Phare Programme.

The Programme Management Unit (PMU) is the organisation responsible in front of, and under the P AO, for the implementation of the whole Programme. The Objective on the current project was to assist in establishment and conduct of operation of the above mentioned unit.

Project Results

As a result from the implementation of the current PHARE project a special Project Implementation Unit (PIU) was established by the Minsitry of Energy and Energy Resources of Bulgaria. This PIU manage the implementation of the running PHARE projects and was assisted technically by the DTN, Spain. The results of the project were summarized in a Final Report which contained the main technical and financial aspects of the Programmes that were running at the period of the project as well as the main activities performed by the PMU and DTN, acting as the Consultant, in the period from the 24th of May 1996 to the 30th of June 1998.
