Support to the Russian Federation certification body (Former TAREG 2.01/97A)

Support to the Russian Federation certification body (Former TAREG 2.01/97A)

Description

Objective

The Objective of this project was to help the Russian Authorities to improve the national certification system. The aim is to achieve a comprehensive and effective certification system, based on international best-practice methodologies system, which would cover all the certification needs required by the safe use of nuclear energy technology and the handling of other radioactive products. The operation of such an effective certification system should lead to a safety improvement, which should be reflected in Russian and international safety review reports. This safety improvement will be materialised in a significant decrease of NPP incidents due to defects in raw materials or equipment, and in an observed spreading of Quality Assurance methods throughout the entire industrial nuclear sector.
