Project Aims
The project was a continuation of LI/RA/01 (1). The main objective was to strengthen and enhance the effectiveness of the nuclear safety regime in Lithuania and to improve the organization and performance of the Nuclear Safety Inspectorate (VATESI) in a sencond phase.
Project Results
The second phase project was completed according to the specified Terms of Reference. The following issues have been addressed during the project second 2:

  • Legal basis and power of decision making;
  • Nuclear Safety Authorities: structure, staffing, training and liaison with other bodies;
  • Safety criteria, codes technical guidelines;
  • Regulatory inspection of pressurized components;
  • Radioactive Waste Management.
