Project Aims

The primary objective of this Phare project was to provide support to VATESI during the period of design and implementation of the diverse shutdown system (DSS), so that VATESI can act as a strong regulator. A further objective was to assure that the financial resources of the EU for the diverse shutdown system were used to achieve an optimal benefit in terms of increase in reliability of the diverse shutdown function for Ingalina Unit 2 NPP.

Project Results

  • Project Mangagement Support - support was provided to VATESI in establishing, staffing and equipping a Project Office for namaging the DSS review. The Project Office provided VATESI with coordination, organization and reporting capabilities necessary to interface between VATISI, INPP and the technical reviewers. In addition, support for translation and Documentation Control was provided.
  • Technical Support - support was provided to VATESI in the following areas to perform the technical reviews:
      • I&C Design Assessment
      • Accident Analysis
      • System Analysis & Reliability Assessment
      • Safety Case and SAR Review - Demonstration of Acceptability
      • Installation, Operations and Testing Reviews & Inspections
      • QA.

The budget for this project was 1960 000 euro.
