Steam flow meters originally installed on the main steam lines are not reliable, and their failure led to several reactor scrams in the past, because steam flow measurement is used for controlling steam generator water level.

6kV circuit breakers originally installed in the units at Balakovo NPP are of the VES-6 type, and the related cabinets are of KE-6 type. Their supplier is Rovno high voltage equipment plant, Ukraine.
