Project BE/RA/02 is a follow-up of project BE/RA/01 with almost the same objectives. The assistance in the field of emergency preparedness including planning and training was included as new objective. This project has 6 technical tasks.
Objective
The project shall provide assistance to the Russian Safety Authorities, Gosatomnadsor, to assess the safety improvements to be done at Smolensk.

The guiding objective of this project was to assist the Government of the Russian Federation to establish a legally based independent and technically strong regulatory authority.
This project was the second phase of an English training programme for the officials of the Ukrainian state organization in charge of nuclear energy GOSKOMATOM.
It consisted in a part time tuition and in a 3 weeks’ advanced training in the United Kingdom for 5 officials.
