Project Description
The project implemented in 2014-2017 under the auspices of the Instrument for Nuclear Safety Cooperation (INSC) has effectively supported the People’s Republic of China in enhancing their capacities and capabilities for the prevention and management of severe accidents and arrangements for emerge
The objectives that will need to be achieved in further elaborating a national policy and strategy in cooperation with the relevant Chinese authorities and agencies are the following:
• To perform analysis of different options for the management of radioactive waste and spent fuel;
The short-term purposes, which aim to ensure a more effective coordination among the countries in the region and with international partners, and that constitute the purpose of these ToR are the following:
Under its research programmes, the European Commission has supported the development of the comprehensive RODOS (Real time Online Decision Support) system for the off-site management of nuclear emergencies.

Background
This project, part of the Instrument for Nuclear Safety Cooperation (INSC), has effectively enhanced the capabilities in China for the identification and treatment of people who may have been over-exposed to radiation in a radiological or nuclear emergency.
1.OBJECTIVES.
Two main groups of radioactive waste (RAW) exist in Georgia: disused sealed radioactive sources (DSRS) and the radioactive waste generated during the decommissioning of the nuclear research reactor IRT-M. All the reactor fuel has been removed and sent out of Georgia.
1. Objectives
The overall objective of the project was to contribute to improvement of radioactive waste (radwaste) management in Georgia.
