Project Aims

The overall objective of the project was to implement RODOS (real time on-line decision support system) software as a decision support tool for nuclear emergencies in Hungary. In particular, this included:

• Procurement, delivery and installation of the hardware and communication lines;
• Installation of RODOS software and adaptation to local conditions;
• Development of procedures and the provision of training for RODOS operators and users.

Project Results

The project included the following activities :

• Selection , specification, procurement, delivery and installation of computer hardware and commercial software.
• Designing, specification, procurement, delivery and installation of hardware and software needed to establish communication lines with data transfer capacities needed by RODOS.
• Assurence ISDN connections with remote users and data uppliers.
• Installation of RODOS Ver. 4 at hardware provided within this project.
• Collection of data on local conditions.
• Test and verification of the operability of RODOS at central RODOS unit and of the system as a whole.
• Development of procedures for integration of RODOS into national emergency arrangements.
• Development of training courses and provision of training to RODOS operators and users.

The project resulted in the following outputs:

• Hardware and commercial software installation at 6 locations.
• Established communication links.
• RODOS system installed and tested in all modes of operation.
• A set of emergency procedures to support use of RODOS in emergency preparedness.
• Staff trained in RODOS use and maintenance.

The budget for this project was 370 000 euro.
