South Ukraine - Spare parts for safety related foreign equipment (II)

Description

Objectives

Maintenance of safety related equipment and if needed the replacement of worn parts is necessary to preserve the adequate safety function of the equipment and to enhance plant availability. Some of the safety related valves of the South Ukraine NPP were running out of the safety margin and parts had to be replaced with approved spare parts.
As part of the Tacis 1996 nuclear safety assistance programme for Ukraine, it was decided to procure urgently needed spare parts required for the maintenance and repair of foreign supplied safety relevant valves that had been installed at South Ukraine NPP in the past.

The NPP operator, together with the On-Site Assistance Consultant prepared a list of urgently needed spare parts and these were divided into 4 lots:

  • U1.03/96D-1: Spare parts for valves – IBL
  • U1.03/96D-2: Spare parts for valves - KSB
  • U1.03/96D-3: Spare parts for valves – Bopp & Reuther
  • U1.03/96D-4: Spare parts for valves – Sempell

The spare parts were purchased by negotiated direct agreements with the original suppliers and were identical to the original parts. All required documentation was included in the scope of supply.
