Background
UK/TS/28 is a 2+2 project in which EU Technical Support Organisations support the Ukrainian Nuclear Safety Authority (SNRCU) in its activities on licensing related assessments of EU financed improvement measures in Zaporozhye NPP.
UK/TS/29 was a technical support project in which the nuclear safety authority of Ukraine (SNRCU) was supported in reviewing safety documentation, mainly related to Khmelnitsky 2 and Rovno 4 (K2R4).
Objective
1) Background
This project dealt with TACIS OSA (On-Site Assistance) at Khmelnitsky NPP.
Background
Background
The float technical base (FTB) “Lepse” is one of the most hazardous objects for the environment and population of Russia’s North-West. The ship’s spent nuclear fuel (SNF) storage facilities (channels and caissons) contain 639 spent nuclear fuel assemblies (SNFA), part of which are damaged.
Objective
Objectives
The present project was implemented through two contracts, one with a Consortium of EU organisations: Framatome ANP, Forschungszentrum Rossendorf (FZR) & University of Pisa (contract 61936; project R2.02/02A); and the other with the Russian nuclear design and engineering organisation, EDO Gid

Project Description
Background
Background
1. Background
1) Background
The present project is a continuation of on-site-assistance (OSA), rendered by RWE Energy as the EC appointed Consultant to Zaporoshe NPP.
2) Objectives
This project had 2 main different categories of objectives and tasks:
Objectives
In the framework of the “Tacis Nuclear Safety Programme”, it was decided to increase the nuclear safety of the units 1 through 6 at the Zaporozhye NPP by improving the protection of the primary circuit from overpressure under normal and emergency modes.
